Sachi Jochi

M.S. Sustainability Management
Columbia

Sachi builds the carbon models and ESG frameworks that turn sustainability goals into something measurable — and she is doing it across industries most sustainability professionals haven’t thought to look at yet.

“Sachi is a sustainability analyst and MS student at Columbia University, where she is building expertise in GHG accounting, ESG reporting, and carbon analytics across industries that rarely get the attention they deserve — including sports and entertainment.

At Columbia Climate School’s SEEN network, she is developing a fan-travel carbon emissions model to quantify the Scope 3 transportation footprint of sports and entertainment venues — work that sits at a genuinely underexplored frontier of corporate carbon accounting. Simultaneously, at 3R Sustainability, she reviews and benchmarks ESG performance data against LEED, WELL, BREEAM, and GRESB standards for real estate clients.

Her path here has been unusually international — five internships across four continents, including regulatory framework analysis at Novonesis in India, climate-tech research at Solmeyea in New York, and marine conservation fieldwork at the Great Barrier Reef. She holds a Bachelor’s in Global Issues from the University of Tsukuba, where she received the Alumni Association Esaki Award for exemplary achievement and character. She graduates from Columbia in December 2026.

What I’d love to discuss during the event

  • Sports and entertainment generate enormous Scope 3 emissions through fan travel, yet very few organizations measure them rigorously. What would it take to make this a standard part of venue sustainability reporting?
  • ESG benchmarking in real estate relies heavily on voluntary frameworks such as GRESB and LEED. How do we ensure these frameworks drive genuine performance improvement rather than simply better disclosure?
  • Sustainability education is producing a new generation of professionals who think in systems and data. What do organizations need to do differently to deploy that talent effectively?
