Hugo Krier

Senior Sustainability Specialist
Amazon

Hugo sits at the intersection of AI and sustainability strategy — and he’s spent nearly a decade at one of the world’s largest companies proving those two things belong together.

Hugo leads global waste prevention strategy across Amazon’s Consumer and Grocery businesses, working to prevent millions of units of waste annually through data-driven frameworks and upstream intervention systems. He builds the cost-of-waste models that drive executive prioritization — and serves as Amazon’s primary liaison to key U.S. food waste industry groups.

His nearly nine years at Amazon span product management, competitive intelligence, business development, and sustainability — across the U.S., Luxembourg, and Europe. He drove 192% year-over-year revenue growth as a program manager, and defined an agentic AI product vision to automate brand monitoring at scale.

Hugo holds dual master’s degrees from Erasmus University Rotterdam, completed an Executive Masterclass in Circular Economy at the University of Exeter, and is a Perplexity AI Business Fellow. He is multilingual across English, French, German, and Luxembourgish.

What I’d love to discuss during the event

  • Food waste is a massive sustainability lever — but most interventions happen too late in the supply chain. Where does upstream decision-making actually move the needle?
  • AI is being applied to sustainability challenges everywhere right now. What separates the implementations that create real impact from the ones that just look good in a press release?
  • Circular economy thinking is gaining traction in corporate strategy — but how do you make it operational inside a company the size of Amazon?
